Tuesday, 15th October 2013 - Unicom Recruit through Back2Work Complete Training to Decrease Long Term Unemployement 


The UK’s leading small business telecoms and utilities supplier, Unicom, are working with government funded organisation, Back 2 Work Complete Training, to get the long term unemployed back in to sustainable employment.

Having recently expanded into the gas and electricity market Unicom has created 40 new Utility Sales positions at its city centre office. Johnny Shamim, Head of Utility Sales has been recruiting for the positions in partnership with Back 2 Work Complete Training, who provide services to assist job seekers through the transition into long term employment, whilst answering businesses recruitment needs.

Back 2 Work Complete Training are a UK based, government funded organisation who work with the Department of Work and Pensions and Job Centres to provide job seekers the training needed to enter into full time employment. Individuals wanting to get back into work are asked to attend an open day in which the opportunities available are outlined and their suitability discussed in an informal interview.

Successful candidates complete a training course preparing them for a specific job role and on completion of the training and an assessment day they enter into positions of permanent, full time employment. An impressive 74% of all learners attending Back 2 Work training courses go into full time permanent contracted employment.

On 1st July 2013 the first applicants completed the Back to Work Training Scheme for Unicom’s Utility Sales positions and entered into their permanent positions within the company. Of this initial training course 2 employees have now progressed to a position of management, responsible for the supervision of a small team of Sales Advisors.  There have been 4 further successful training courses all of which have seen candidates complete the course and enter into full time permanent positions within Unicom’s Utility Sales Team.
