Salary: £15,500 – £17,500 basic per annum (OTE £22,000).
Benefits: Uncapped Performance related bonus, 2 pay reviews per annum and up to 33 days paid holiday.
Job Type: Permanent.
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9.00am – 6.00pm.
Location: Based at our Head Office, South Manchester.

The Role

Key duties of this role will involve calling business customers who no longer receive services from Unicom with an outstanding balance older than 4 months to chase in all outstanding monies via direct debits, credit/debit cards, cheques and BACS. You will also investigate accounts where disputes have been raised and resolving these issues in order to secure payment. You will also be required to investigate any claims of financial difficulties and negotiate sufficient payment plans where appropriate. As a debt collection advisor you will have the freedom to use your own initiative and negotiate final settlements, as necessary, within agreed guidelines. Where payment cannot be secured, you will prepare the customer’s file to be passed to our legal department in order to initiate court proceedings. It will also be your responsibility to ensure that customers are aware of the consequences of non-payment throughout this process. Skills and Experience Required

We will consider applicants that have a minimum of 6 months experience working in a targeted debt collection environment, preferably working with accounts where debt has been outstanding for a prolonged period. It is crucial that you have the ability to work in a fast paced environment and can think innovatively. An ability to research and investigate a wide range of issues will also be essential. As you will be dealing with sensitive issues, you must be a strong minded and professional individual that can negotiate and influence confidently at all levels, including with confrontational or evasive customers. Self motivating individuals with a positive approach to targets will thrive in this role as you will need to be persistent to overcome reasons not to pay or delay payment. A confident phone manner and an ability to build rapport will also help with your success in this position. (Although foreign language skills are not a requirement an ability to speak foreign languages, including Urdu, Punjabi, Cantonese and Mandarin, would be advantageous.)
